1998 was a landmark year in motorcycling as Yamaha introduced the first YZF-R1, designed for exhilarating speed on winding roads. It quickly became a highly popular bike. In 2015, Yamaha released the latest YZF-R1 model, with a refined concept tailored for circuit riding. This range includes the YZF-R1M, which leverages Yamaha's extensive MotoGP experience. The YZF-R1M maximises the potential of its 200hp 998cc 4-cylinder engine, featuring a top-tier electronics package to support the rider. It also includes a data logger and Yamaha’s Communication Control Unit (CCU) that records lap times and course information and carbon fibre body cowls to enhance performance.
For stability and easy handling, the YZF R1M is equipped with advanced Öhlins Electronic Racing Suspension (ERS) that automatically adjusts damping settings. For agility on the other hand, the Yamaha R1M model utilises magnesium wheels and other lightweight components.
