The Pontiac Firebird was in production between 1967-2002 by Pontiac, an American automobile company. It was designed as a pony car, compact and affordable, and ready to compete with the Ford Mustang.
The second generation of this famous sports car came out in 1970 and was in production for 11 years. The 1979 Trans Am was a complete restyling of the previous models with a relatively unchanged interior.
This upgrade included changes to the front end, rear spoilers, flares, and taillight. To allow cool air to reach the engine, the grilles were also repositioned at a lower level. For its iconic hood, the decals from the Y88 SE & the Solar Gold versions from 1978 were chosen as the standard design for all Trans Am models, and were available in a variety of colours.
The 1979 Firebird became a best-selling model in the Firebird series with the Trans Am being a fan favourite due to its on-screen appearances in various films.
