1969 Chevy Chevelle SS 396

The 1969 Chevy Chevelle SS 396, the second generation of Chevelle, continued to be the most popular mid-sized American car. It is a classic American muscle car known for its powerful performance. This iconic vintage car stayed in the Chevrolet car lineup until 1978. It featured small changes when compared to the 1968 chevy model.

The SS 396 was powered by a 396 cubic inch V8 engine. Several versions of this engine were available, with horsepower ratings ranging from 325 to 375 horsepower. The SSTM 396 was a $347.60 option package and the 396 c.i. was rated at 325 horsepower in the basic package. It was even possible to order a special 396 c.i. With up to 375 horsepower.

There were also dealer specials under the “COPO” program, which improved the Chevelle reputation as the best muscle car. 

The 1969 Chevelle SS 396 featured distinctive quad headlights joined by a single chrome plate which became an iconic Chevrolet trademark , a revised front grille and a muscular body with sculpted lines.
